The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm. Speakers were: Warwick Arden, Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine at NCSU. Mr. Arden spoke in favor of the proposed NC Bio-Agro Defense Facility. This was for informational purposes only and no action was taken. More info can be found at http://www.ncc-ncbath.org Aidil Collins of the Cleveland-Holloway NA spoke about the current plan by NCDOT to widen Alston Ave. and its impact on that neighborhood. This was for informational purposes and no action was taken. Dorothea Pierce of Keep Durham Beautiful explained some of the programs they do and asked INC delegates to attend a Coffee with Council meeting to ask for more funding for this program so they can hire an additional staff person. This speech was for informational purposes and no action was taken. Updates were given by Parks and Rec, DNIS, Preservation Durham, Uplift East Durham, and NECD about their ongoing projects and efforts. No action taken on any of these items. Business items taken up: 1. It was motioned and approved to accept the minutes from the January meeting as written with no changes. 2. It was motioned and seconded to have a "meet the candidates for county commission and DA positions in lieu of the April 22 delegate meeting. -A substitute motion to include ALL candidates at the meet and greet was made and seconded. -The first motion was withdrawn. -The substitute motion was accepted. A committee was formed to set up the forum, which includes Pat Carstensen, Risa Foster and Janet Hitti. Announcements were as follows: -Dues will be mailed out in February. -Neighborhood Heroes Awards Banquet will be Friday, 3/14 at 7:30 at the Washington Duke Hotel. -Neighborhood Summit planned for Fall '08. The meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm.
